Gloryfire TacVest

Today, I'm diving into the GLORYFIRE Near Infrared (NIR) Compliant Camo Tactical Plate Carrier Vest. GLORYFIRE sent this out for review, and after thorough testing, I have some honest insights into both its strengths and a few areas that could use improvement.

At first glance, the standout feature of this plate carrier is its NIR-compliant fabric, specifically designed to reduce visibility under night vision goggles. While this capability is essential for tactical operators running night ops or specialized training, for most civilian users, it's more of an added bonus rather than a must-have.

One of the most appealing features of the GLORYFIRE carrier is the quick-release system. Rapid-open connectors at the shoulders and waist allow you to get the vest off quickly, a practical feature whether you're in a training exercise or simply appreciate ease of removal. This quick-release capability could be crucial in scenarios requiring immediate gear removal.

Customization is another strength, thanks to a comprehensive MOLLE system covering the entire vest. It offers ample real estate for mag pouches, medical kits, or admin storage. Additionally, side-access pockets built into the cummerbund are perfect for extra storage without creating unnecessary bulk.

Adjustability is solid, accommodating waist sizes from 32 to 52 inches. With adjustable shoulder straps and cummerbund, achieving a secure and snug fit is straightforward. This is particularly important with plate carriers to ensure stability and comfort during dynamic movements.

Speaking of comfort, this vest delivers. Padded shoulder straps and breathable 3D mesh lining significantly reduce fatigue during extended wear sessions, setting it apart from lower-end carriers lacking similar padding. This feature alone makes it suitable for long training sessions or full days at the range.

In terms of durability, GLORYFIRE built this vest with robust 1000D fabric and reinforced stitching, designed to withstand rigorous use. Whether you're engaged in tactical training, regular range use, or general tactical applications, it should hold up reliably over time.

However, there were a couple of minor drawbacks. The cummerbund feels somewhat stiff right out of the box. While this stiffness should improve with use, it's something to be aware of initially. Additionally, compatibility with various plates can vary, so it's important to ensure your plates fit correctly with this carrier.

Overall, the GLORYFIRE Tactical Plate Carrier offers a strong combination of modularity, comfort, and functionality. Its quick-release system and comfort features are standout elements that justify its consideration, especially if these align with your specific needs. However, if you're on a tight budget or don’t require specialized features like NIR compliance, other options might better suit your needs.
